Road Trips and Baptisms

Yahya, a Muslim-background believer whom I disciple, has received several death threats for his faith in Jesus Christ. His immediate family has rejected him, and he’s never sure whom he can trust. The persecution he faces is real.

Still, Yahya remains strong in the Lord and continues to boldly share the Gospel.

Recently, he decided to take a road trip around the country. He wanted to visit everyone he knew—all his friends and family scattered in different cities—to tell them what Christ has done in his life.

Before Yahya left, my teammates and I prayed over him. We asked God to fill him with faith and courage and prayed that many would respond to the Gospel.

Several weeks later, Yahya returned with stories about the many encouraging conversations he’d had with friends and family who were open to hearing about Jesus.

Soon after returning home, two of the friends Yahya had visited on his road trip called him. They were on their way from a distant city, and they needed to see him urgently.

When they arrived, they told Yahya that they believed the Good News he had shared with them. They had already read much of the Bible he had given them. Yahya talked with them at length to make sure they understood the Gospel. Convinced that they were ready, they went to a nearby beach where the two friends were baptized.

We praise God for how Yahya is obeying Christ as he shares the Gospel, makes disciples, and baptizes new believers.

  • Praise God that, in spite of persecution, Muslim-background believers like Yahya have not stopped proclaiming the Good News.
  • Pray that believers would remain obedient to the Word as they follow Jesus Christ in difficult places.
  • Pray for unstoppable movements of faith in Christ in Muslim communities.
