“If you became a follower of Jesus,” I asked my friend Fayiza, “what would your husband say?”
Her simple reply silenced me.
“Go,” she said. “He would tell me to go.”
Fayiza and I have been studying the Word of God together. She is growing in love for Jesus Christ, and she is even beginning to obey His teachings in her daily life.
But Fayiza knows that if she truly becomes a follower of Jesus, her husband would send her away. She would lose her children, her home, and her security. She would have to leave absolutely everything.
There are a few Muslim-background believers that we know in our country. Such suffering is a reality for them, too.
We know a local married couple who have chosen to follow Christ. The husband’s parents are threatening to take their children away from them.
Another believer has lost his job, car, home, and closest relationships. His family has told him to go away. They want nothing to do with him.
Is Jesus worth it?
These faithful men and women are asking this very question right now.
Is Jesus worth living for? Is Jesus worth dying for? Is Jesus worth losing everything for?
- Pray for our Muslim-background brothers and sisters in Christ.
- Ask God to strengthen their faith and their devotion to Christ amidst persecution.
- Pray that the Lord would give Fayiza courage and joy to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord.
Persecution is a daily reality for many followers of Jesus in Muslim countries.
