In Cities of a Million or More

Alex and Donna Wright felt called to go and share Jesus with those who have the least access to the Gospel.

So they moved their family to an Indian city that has more than one million Muslims. Several different communities of unengaged Muslim people groups are within walking distance of the Wrights’ apartment.

The Wrights find themselves in the center of a developing trend emerging across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. They live in a megacity, and it’s growing rapidly as families from the least-reached corners of the country move there.

As Muslims who’ve never heard about Jesus move to these urban centers, it creates new opportunities to reach them more effectively with the Gospel.

Frontiers has identified dozens of spiritually strategic cities across the Muslim world like the one the Wrights live in.

Entire families—many of whom may never hear the Gospel if they stay in their homelands—are migrating to strategic cities in India, Pakistan, Chad, Indonesia, and the Arab Peninsula. And in these vast metropolises, men and women often express more openness to Christ.

Alex, Donna, and their Frontiers teammates are the only field workers sharing Jesus with Muslims in their megacity.

Life isn’t easy in such a place. Alex and Donna face many daily challenges—shortages of water, air pollution, illness, and the risk of road accidents caused by traffic congestion and poor roads.

The Wrights miss their family members and friends back in America. Plus, their team feels so small in light of the task of reaching so many Muslims who have no one else telling them about Christ.

But Alex and Donna know God has called them to go where there are no other Gospel workers.

Frontiers is sending more teams to strategic cities than ever before. But the need is great, and hundreds of urban centers still have no messengers of the Gospel sharing Christ with Muslims.

The millions of families moving to strategic cities need to hear from Christ’s messengers. And you could be one of the first Gospel workers knocking on the city gates.
