A Sticky Gospel

“I thought the Good News was interesting,” said Khalil, one of my local friends. “But I didn’t think it was for me.”

The first time Khalil heard the message of the Gospel, it somehow missed his heart.

He isn’t the only one. Some of my other Muslim friends have told me that Jesus’ message of life seemed like a sales pitch on how to get to heaven. It didn’t offer any good news for the problems they face today.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is so good, and our team is determined to share it in a way that speaks deeply to our Muslim friends.

Author Malcolm Gladwell writes in The Tipping Point,

The specific quality that a message needs to be successful, is the quality of ‘stickiness.’ Is the message . . . memorable? Is it so memorable, in fact, that it can create change, that it can spur someone to action?

We’re discovering how to communicate the Gospel message in a way that spurs our Muslim friends toward Christ. We want to make the message of Jesus to bear much fruit and to stick in their hearts and minds.

We’ve made mistakes, but we’re learning. And now we are beginning to see the Gospel stick.

Khalil’s own life, his family, and his relationships were a mess.

“It wasn’t until I saw how following Jesus could change my life and relationships in the here-and-now that I wanted it,” he recently confessed to me.

Khalil is now a follower of Jesus Christ. And while it’s not easy, the Lord is helping bring peace into his life and his relationships.

We pray daily for others like Khalil—that God would lead us to them, that we would know how to share Jesus with them, and that our message would be “sticky” enough to yield a great harvest for the Kingdom.

Pray for Khalil to continue to grow in obedience to Jesus Christ and bear the fruit of the Spirit in his life.

Pray for Frontiers field workers as they discover the keys for communicating the Gospel to Muslims so that it sticks in minds and hearts and spurs them to action.

Ask the Lord to prepare good soil in the hearts of Muslim men and women to receive the Good News of Christ.
