The Biggest Little Miracle

“Meet me at my office at the end of my shift,” Majid told Aamir. “I have to talk with you.”

Aamir wondered what was on his friend’s mind. Aamir, a Muslim-background believer, had been telling Majid about Jesus for some time now. He and Majid also prayed together over their concerns or needs.

“Majid is showing more openness to Christ,” Aamir had recently told Rick, a Frontiers worker who was coaching and discipling him.

But Majid was more than open to Jesus.

Later that night, Aamir picked Majid up in front of his office. As they drove to a café, Majid told Aamir about what had happened to him the night before.

Majid had been performing his usual prayers at the mosque. When finished, he decided to stay and pray quietly to Jesus—even though he knew that this was a highly unorthodox practice in his conservative culture.

As he prayed, Majid began to experience a joy that filled his entire being. It stayed with him as he left the mosque and went home.

The next morning when he woke up, Majid was still brimming with sheer joy. And it showed no sign of letting up.

Majid and Aamir stayed out late talking about the joyful life Jesus gives His followers. Majid was exuberant.

“Now, Jesus is going to give me everything I want!” he exclaimed.

“Not quite,” Aamir cautioned him. “The thing we should be happy about is that Jesus Christ saves us from sin and death. As for other things you want, you’re welcome to ask for them. But whether He gives you these things or not, you must always thank Christ for your salvation.”

They chatted until well after midnight. When Aamir drove him to his house, Majid realized that he didn’t have a house key. All the family members inside were sound asleep, and no one was responding to the doorbell or answering their cell phones.

“Why don’t we ask for Jesus’ help?” Aamir suggested. So, they prayed. Then Majid tried calling his sister’s cell phone again. This time, she answered.

Majid was astonished. To others, this might seem like a little miracle. But for Majid, seeing God work in a practical way in his own life was the biggest miracle he’d ever witnessed.

Majid and Aamir are now studying God’s Word together, starting with the book of Mark.

Rick says, “Aamir and I are praying that Majid will become rooted and grounded in the Word as he sees God work in his life.” Join in praying the same.

  • Ask the Lord to continue revealing Himself to Majid in powerful and personal ways.
  • Pray that Majid will boldly share about the source of his joy, Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for field workers and local believers as they help Muslims engage with God’s Word and learn about the Savior.
