“It’s like that feeling when you watch an epic movie,” Faisal said.
I first met Faisal a year ago in a café. Even from our first interaction, he was charismatic and funny.
But Faisal was not at ease. He was a man without peace, without joy.
He was a man without Christ.
Over the next few months, my teammates and I read the Bible with Faisal. We prayed with him as he wrestled to understand that Jesus Christ is more than a prophet—that He is the Son of God.
We discussed with Faisal how Jesus didn’t just tell us what to do to avoid sin—He showed us that He has dealt with our sin once and for all.
Faisal also discovered in the Word that Jesus, the perfect and holy One who defeated death, not only points us to the way to God—Christ Himself is the way to God.
Over the months, we met with Faisal to read Scripture, wrestle through questions, and laugh together. But most of all, my teammates and I prayed daily for our Muslim friend to truly encounter Christ.
Then, a few months ago, in a busy café, Faisal sat down and said, “I have become a worshiper of Jesus the Messiah.”
In the weeks that followed, Faisal experienced the wonder of Jesus transforming his life.
“It’s like that epic feeling you get when you are watching an amazing movie or reading a great book,” Faisal said to me. “It’s that feeling of surreal joy and peace. That’s what I feel every single day now. Except this isn’t fiction. This is the reality of knowing Jesus Christ.”
Faisal is our new brother. I am so happy that I will get to see him in eternity!
Please pray for Faisal to grow strong and mature in Christ Jesus as we continue studying the Word of God together. Pray that the joy of his salvation will never fade. Pray his family will have open hearts to as Faisal shares the Good News of the Gospel with them.
Countless multitudes of Muslims have yet to discover that Jesus Christ is the way to the Father.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” –Romans 10:14-15
Please ask the Lord of the harvest to raise up more field workers to be sent to Muslim peoples who have the least access to the Gospel.
