I live in a country that is still considered to be 100% Muslim.
Lately, there has been so much in the news about refugees, ISIS, and Islamic extremism. We see evidence of extremism here, too. We thank God that, so far, there has been no violence here yet.
In some ways, my husband and children and I are like those refugee families heading to Europe and the West. We are outsiders. We are ignorant of local customs and language. We don’t have family here. Some people welcome us, but most people are indifferent toward us.
Some people are hostile towards us. They tell us to convert or go home.
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Jesus says in Matthew 5:44. This is a command we have come to cherish and love.
It can be hard to love your enemies when you feel threatened. But this is part of what makes our faith in Christ Jesus unique in the world.
Are you ready to take on the challenge to pray for those who persecute Jesus’ followers? Take a look at PrayforISIS.com, a 30-day prayer guide, and join with the multitudes of Christians worldwide praying in the name of the only One who can bring peace to the world.
No one is too far from God—not our enemies, not even members of ISIS.
